My Facebook account thinks im in London when in fact im no where near London, all the ads are for the London area ( buy n sell etc ) so i dont get to join any in my area....any suggestions ?

On a mobile device or a computer, if computer then it guesses based upon your IP address and if yours shows as London then that's where it thinks you are. If it's a mobile device and you've allowed it to use your location (you don't have to) it will attempt to work out where you are by cell tower.

You can be sitting in your home in the middle of nowhere on the other side of the world and 'check in' to Central Park in New York, anywhere, you should try it Albs, my friend and I had great fun one day, having a ball in NY, few minutes later we decided we're in Kiev.

Not always. I've come up as in London and I haven't checked in. Sometimes it just gets your location wrong. I think it's more likely to happen from laptops or PC's. Not so much from phones or tablets.

I don't check in much ummmm when using facebook, I can look at where I am though and I could be in Waterford, Cork or Dublin, I was in Sligo once, I don't pay that much attention to it, it doesn't bother me, it's if I look at recent log ins, I see those counties. I just discovered the NY and Kiev and anywhere else thing one day we were messing about

Yes...last time I was back home it said I was in Mayo. I landed in Knock. It said that the whole time even though I was in Sligo
