Toshiba 32Av615Db Turning On By Itself Some Nights
11 Answers
My TV is waking me every now and then by turning itself on. There is no pattern to the turning on. Is there some alarm clock I am accidentally setting without knowing.
Any ideas - please keep it simple I am not technology minded :-)
Thank you

I think it is in the Electronic Program Guide(EPG )menu. I have not had time to look up the user manual but if you have it to hand it is worth going through the settings instructions. If you turn it off at the mains and you have it set up to do the upgrades at night it won't do them and you will not get updated program info.
I had a pal who was spooked out top find his tv occasionally lit up the living room via the backlights when they were all in bed. Same thing, the power supply was telling the backlight set up that the tv was on when it was doing overnight up dates. When I told him to go home and check the backlight settings he thought I was nuts. He didn't even know there was a menu to set them up. Problem solved.

It could be that the connected device is switching on the TV. The Scart connector has this functionality built in – HDMI-CEC communication via the lead allows the connected device to wake up the TV and control display settings.
If the connected device is connected to a cable network, your service provider has considerable power over the system – even when in standby.
You could try disconnecting the input leads (HDMI/Scart), but it might be easier to disconnect the mains supply to the TV.
