Very Old Pc Won't Open Pages
7 Answers
My old XP needs to go in the bin but for now I have to work with it. AOL loads up okay but if I try and open Firefox or even
Chrome the page just doesn't load up. No error message, just the address in the browser and a blank page. Any ideas?

Are there any Flash updates available?
Have you got any driver updates available( XP is no longer supported)
Have you got Displaylink drivers installed? if so try uninstalling them.
Plus you could try having a look in documents and settings. Local settings try run as administrator, or find Chrome user default and data types and tick preferences box. Sorry I have forgotten the way to access xp system for documents/settings.

It might be worth giving System Restore a go (to take your computer's registry back to a time when everything worked properly).
Other than that, all I can suggest is to fork out £65 (including carriage) for a decent Windows 7 machine:

(I can highly recommend that supplier. It's where I get my own computers, and those bought on behalf of friends, from. More options, including Windows 10 machines, here: http:// www.acc omputer warehou se.com/ product s/compu ting/re furbish ed-comp uters )

Thanks for the replies. PC now won't even open word! Im running an AVG check which is taking hours, and will then restart.
If no use I'll then try system
Restore. I do actually have a new PC in another room but this is my old faithful which I need to edit videos (premiere cs3) on - I can't get cs3 anywhere else so if I can't make this computer work I am in trouble with my deadlines!

Try installing Hitfilm Express, VSDC or something similar onto your modern PC:
