Instead of Google as my default search for some unaccountable reason it has changed to Yahoo.
I have tried to change back but without any success. Please can anyone help me.

Thank you Togo, I found the video very interesting but of the 3 icons non of them was settings. I have Windows 10 so I'm not sure if this makes a difference. I have managed to get google now, but I also have yahoo. One way or another I will get rid of it, apparently I must have downloaded something although I don't remember. Charityboob
You've still not told us which web browser you're using. (Edge? Internet Explorer? Firefox? Chrome? Opera? Avant? Vivaldi? Something else?). It's a lot easier for us to give you exact instructions if we know which program we're dealing with.
Well done Charityboob. Never had that problem, but a bit of Google Fu, indicates that it is a widespread issue linked to certain uploads or apps installed. You will probably find that it occurs again until you uninstall Yahoo or find the process that is firing it. Have a look for something like this app running called SearchSettings.exe
