Did you open 6/8 ? Can't you close them by pressing the X ?
Have you set up the browser to open links in a new tab each time ?

Many websites are configured to open a new window or tab whenever you click on a link. AB is one of them. So if you click on lots of links in AB (or similar sites) you'll end up with lots of tabs open until you close them. It's perfectly normal.
