I came back from holiday and started up my PC.It made a bit more noise than usual and took 10 minutes to go through the start up sequence, and still does. Once up and running it seems ok. I have loads of disk space and memory, no virus and am wondering if i can find out how fast my HD is spinning or any you guys any thoughts on the matter. thank you

If the noise is mechanical, suspect possible hard drive failure. It's usually a rattling type of sound.

Hi caramba, don't worry about your drive speed its preset and will not be the problem.

I strongly suggest that now is the time to save any files you would hate to lose.

Go to My Computer, Right click select the suspect drive C: and select properties, select Tools and then error checking. select automatically fix errors and also attempt recovery of bad sectors and run the test.

If the results are anything except perfect you better budget for a new hard drive ASAP and don't save anything on that drive you don't want to lose.

u might want to do a virus check disk clenup and disk refrag
