Samsung Repairs

I have a Samsung tablet that has died (nothing to do with battery/charging etc) Has anyone had Samsung do repairs for them? I'm just wondering if they charge a hefty fee just to look at it before they even do anything.

First of all though, it would be useful if you could provide the model number of the tablet and if it is out of warranty. If the tablet is out of warranty, do you have a rough idea of how long ago the warranty expired?

Thanks for the replies. Its a Tab 3 out of warranty. I'm in HK at the moment and took.it to Samsung here but they said it would take about 3 days to sort out and I'll be back in the UK by then. I was weighing up the idea of repair costs in the UK against buying a new one here which will be a better price. If there is no set fee for repairing, I think I will just take a chance on Samsung fixing it and if they can't, I'll get a Tab A or similar from Tesco. Thanks again.
The tab is at least 3 years old TWR (or one year old in my life because I only use it when I am away) I think the problem is battery swelling and before I bin it, I am very tempted to have a go at fixing it myself. I love taking things apart and putting them back together again so might have a go for the hell of it.
