recently got a new router and an older laptop no longer gets access.
I suspect/guess this may be because of the 'internet protocol version' .TCP/IPv4 and 6 are mentioned. anyone any ideas ?
thanks.

install windows 7 on the laptop, also check for driver updates, vista was a terrible os, id just upgrade to 7
How is the laptop connected to the router? (Is it wirelessly or via an Ethernet cable? If the problem is arising with a wireless connection, have you tried a cabled one? Knowing whether it's a 'general' problem or just a wifi one might make it easier to fix things)

If you're trying to use a wireless connection, how far do you get? (Does the laptop see the router among the available networks? If so, have you entered the the correct [new] password?)

If you've got that far, is the connection refused or do you get a connection to the router but with 'no internet access' shown?

The answers to those questions might help us to work out what's going wrong.
