I dont like it either - its supposed to be superfast and it isnt, and it looks to much like edge which is an all time low on the gui front. Simple and intuitive is what most people want I believe.
I have found the opposite in that it is much faster and better to use.
why do you have the Firefox home page at all? Why not just set up your own home page as you want it?

Just go to the page you want then drag its tab across to the little house symbol somewhere top right.
I assume you are using the Firefox Default Home page. Try something else as your home page. I use Bing as my preference.

It would be interesting to know exactly what home page you have.

Click the 'Hamburger' (3 horizontal lines, top right of page) then Options followed by General on the left hand side of the page that then opens. ........Let us know what is printed in the 'Home Page Box'

Hans.
Just got the new version of Firefox today, no issues yet. Do not use firefox as my 'Homepage', it's set to my favourite website.
ahh the new firefox quantum, its seems faster to me ? but some of the add-ons i used to use are no longer supported, like roomy bookmarks toolbar, is it faster or is it just a placebo effect.
I'm finding Firefox Quantum (57.0) to be a lot faster than Firefox 56. In particular, AB appears almost instantaneously and can be scrolled far more smoothly than before.

I'm not sure what you mean by the 'Firefox home page' though. I've got Firefox set up to open with a completely blank page, with the 'Home' button taking me to AB.
I've got it and the only thing ive found so far that I don't like is the bookmark menu. Unless im doing it wrong, it opens up like a mini window down the left side of your screen- not impressed.
B00:
If you've got the Menu Bar across the top of your screen (File / Edit / View / etc), clicking on 'Bookmarks' produces the familiar drop-down list. (To enable the Menu Bar, if it's not already there, simply right-click at the top of your screen and put a tick next to the option).

For me, going via the button which looks like book on a shelf brings up a scrollable (but annoyingly incomplete) list on the right of my screen.

However the best way to get into your bookmarks, so that you can sort them, search them, add tags, etc is (and always has been) to press Ctrl, Shift and B together (followed by clicking on Bookmarks Menu unless you've already got everything arranged in folders).
@Buenchico.....Hi Chris, Your posting at 13.00hrs has left me somewhat confused. You have said that you open Firefox with a blank page and a click on the 'Home Page' takes you to AB.

I would have thought that 'Home Page' would give a Search Box for 'surfing' the Net and this would be a Google page as Google is now the default Search Engine for Firefox.

Hans.
as i mentioned roomy bookmarks toolbar was excellent, you could have as many rows along the menu bar, with all your favorite urls within the rows, but the add-on will not work with quantum.
Hans:
You can choose between having Firefox open with a blank page or with your home page (which can be anything you like). Another option is have it open with the same tabs (and windows) as it had when you last closed it.

To set things up properly:
Navigate to your choice of home page.
Click the hamburger. (Three lines, top right).
Click Options.
Choose between the three options for 'When Firefox starts'.
Under 'Home page' click 'Use Current Page'.

I can't think of any reason why anyone would choose to have Google as their home page. The search box at the top right is all that I ever use for web searches.
It's a bit faster but it's as ugly as sin.

Chris @ 13:28 - I used "Customise" via the "3 lines" & dragged "Show Your Bookmarks" icon to the bar - http://tinyurl.com/y9ayktyy

That then gives me - http://tinyurl.com/y7dcr5cr

Is that any help? Apologies if I've missed the point, I'm not having a brilliant day!

when I use it to enter AB, the type is slow and delayed I'm now using this in google and it is normal speed, why the difference?
Thanks, LiK.

That gives me basically the same as going via the 'bookshelf' icon but, importantly, the list is now fully populated.

Ta!
Khandro:
Perhaps Firefox is trying to call up old data from its cache?

Press Ctrl and F5 together to flush the cache.
Oh, I'm glad that's helped, Chris :-)

Hans; In 'Home Page' it says Mozilla Firefox Start page (though feint)
at the top under Startup it says Firefox is not your default browser with the option to make default - should I do this?
As I type this there is about a 3 second delay between typing and the word appearing on screen.
its has some nice add-ons and themes, plus i use moz backup to save all my settings in case i want to move to another pc or laptop
Khandro:
Which browser do you want to open if, say, you click on a web link in a document?

If it's Firefox then, yes, Firefox should be set as your default browser.

If it's something else then, clearly, that alternative browser should remain your default option.
