I have just installed Chrome, but when I open Google it is in Google DE (Deutschland, because that's where I am). How do I change it to Google UK please?

click on the google web page, bottom right click on settings in there you'll see to choose your country / region
Question Author
erik thanks but that appears to give only a choice of language, the browser still Google DE not UK
Does it not change if you select English language?
Not sure . . . .but if you can use this link:-

https://www.google.co.uk/preferences?hl=en-GB&;fg=1

you may be able to change the region setting?
Try this:

Go to Settings, then Manage Search Engines, Click ‘add’ then call the new engine what you want, eg GoogleUK, and whatever keyword you want, and put http://www.google.co.uk/#q=%s in the URL box. Then make this the default.
Sorry, Khandro, just to be clear that is 'settings' in Chrome, not Windows.
Question Author
NickorWan; Thanks, I've tried that and I still get Google DE come up first, however, as the language is set in English, I suppose it doesn't matter, except I will probably get German advertising, but as I take no notice of advertising anyway, it probably doesn't matter. I have Google UK in the taskbar now if i want to switch and I've managed to import all my favourites, Google Chrome is certainly better than the new Firefox foisted on me and which I have abandoned, cheers!
go to the page you want then click on the tab and drag it to the little house icon top left. Ideally, if you chose google.co.uk that's the one you should get.
doh, sorry, that was Firefox, I've just realised you said Chrome.
Adding to above if you right click in a blank address bar you also get 'edit search engines'.if you go into that, even though google.de is highlighted, find google.uk further down the list then at the end on the right are 3 tiny dots, click on that and you get the option to make google.uk your default search engine.
That is odd, Khandro, are you sure you have it selected as default? If not do as Prudie says and click on the three dots then make it default.
Question Author
Prudie: That worked fine! thanks. What I need now is: though it now has Google UK as default, the actual opening page (the homepage?) is for some reason one that has, %s in the question bar and a list of searches for that.
In other words, how do I make it open with the normal google page with an empty search box, please?
Question Author
Please ignore the above, I seem to have achieved this all by myself - whose a clever boy?
A clever boy would have written 'who's' :)

quite! but without your final apostrophe.
