start ie 6 wont work..start opera wont work...restart ie6 and it works!!! why?

Can anyone explain this situation.... I try to connect with ie6 and it just goes dead....then I try Opera (on the same connection) it says connection refused!...then I click Opera shut and then go back to ie6 and it works 95% of the time.... would love to be able to just connect with either one of them .....can anyone advise?

You don't say what sort of connection you are using, dial-up or broadband. Also, the platform you are running on. IE6 and Windows 98 don't sleep well together, for instance.
Regardless, my first words of advice would be ditch IE and start running Firefox browser.
Have you run a spyware check? If not, download, update and run Spybot Search and Destroy. You may have inadvertently downloaded something nasty.
