TV LE37D5880K2KXXQ
Good morning everybody!!
I`ve had trouble extending the above TV to adding internet channels to it, by connecting the a wireless adaptor from my modem which is situated 50 feet away, upstairs, with the TV, which is why I cannot add an ethernet cable. Despite a long-running discussion with the tech. dept of Samsung and eventually with the CEO`s office, the tech. dept. said originally the adaptor mentioned in the manual (on the TV) would do the job. The Chairman`s office said they were not available for the reason being the TV is too old. (5 years is too old?)Between them they said to try 6 different links (at various times), none of which had what I required, (Currys included, who Samsung recommended) also could not help. I`ve been recommended adaptors ranging in price from £70+ to £8, but the sites which allow comments by customers have reports saying " rubbish" and "don`t waste your money" etc. .

So has anyone got the same TV, and managed to buy the correct adaptor?

I believe that model has an ethernet port, in which case you can connect it to your router using the mains wiring withe something like this: Amazon.co.uk User Recommendation

Not the same problem, but this might help.

I have a similar Samsung, though it is not a smart TV.

I use a Chromecast to display iPlayer and the like.

After moving house it was struggling to connect, and I realised the Chromecast was in the shadow behind the TV with the router a way away but in front. By getting an extender cable and dropping the Chromecast below the TV it cured the problem.

Thanks for the advice Chairman. Although the TV itself does not mention it is a "smart" TV, Samsung Tech Dept. assure me it is! I`ll buy this as you suggest, providing you agree with the "Tech. Dept." (who do not seem to be sure about the product they sell, or the CEO`s office)!!! The set`s menu states "connection by adaptor required" and the set has an ethernet port.

As you`ve probably gathered, I`m not as up to speed with this sort of thing as I need to be!
//providing you agree with the "Tech. Dept." //
Well, I can't honestly say that I do agree with them!
It's seems to be implied by the fact that there is an Ethernet port, but that's not very confidence-inspiring. In your position I'd be more likely to use a smart device such as a Kodi box, or an Amazon or Google Chromecast attachment, connected via HDMI
