Updating Graphics Driver Safely.
4 Answers
I bought a toshiba laptop last August with windows 10. A couple of weeks ago I couldnt get any display on the screen and /or plugging in a monitor. I tried to get to safe mode but with no display - just couldnt. I sent it back under warranty and they said it was a software problem and suspected w10 had updated the graphics driver. They had to reset it to factory settings & now fine.
I live in fear now of the same thing happening and the warranty will run out so a couple of questions if I may.
1. how do I stop w10 doing the same thing again
2. if it does - how can I recover the laptop to factory settings without sending it back - obviously without a screen display.
TIA

Search the Web for how to start Windows 10 in safe mode and try it before you need to do it in anger.
Once you are in safe mode you should be able to select various reinstall options.
Note a reinstall will usually delete all your personal files so make sure you have regular backups.
Some computer companies also give the option to copy an image of Windows on to a DVD or memory stick so you can do a Windows reinstall so check if your laptop company provides that.
Finally there are some products that allow you to take an image of your whole hard drive for later recovery. I use Macrium Reflect who provide a free version for home use.
It does require some PC knowledge to use it but it is a great product. I can reinstall Windows on any of my PCs in about 10 minutes.
