Amazon Echo Dot App For Windows 10

I have just been given an Amazon Echo Dot for Christmas (Lucky Me) My son-in-law managed to get it on line for me but the only access that I have to the internet is via a W10 laptop.
For some reason, Google play will not allow me to download the Alexa app. on my laptop. Has anyone else encountered this problem? If so, any idea how I can obtain this app I would appreciate your ideas. Many thanks

Thank you SlackAlice for your help. I regret however that your first suggestion only supplies the app download for android. The second suggestion only gives initial set-up jnstructions (which has already been done) and not the Alexa app for Windows 10,

Hi MurrayMints and SlackAlice, Many thanks for your help.
Yes, I have gone through your suggested links however none of them seem to allow me to download the Alexa app for Windows 10. I have since been advised from another source that the Alexa app that will allow settings other than the basic set-up is only available on android (which I do not have)
Never the less I appreciate your help.
