Smoke Detector In Smartphone

Wouldn't it be a good idea if every smartphone contained detectors for smoke and carbon-dioxide? They would always be charged and working. Does anyone know if any smartphones already have them?

no idea, but can't see this working, supposing you are out to dinner and the things starts beeping but there's no fire, how embarrassing.

I reckon there are many many things one could suggest adding to a "smart" phone, but it has to fit in a pocket, and not need a trolley dragged around to carry the battery ;-)

I think maybe you mean carbon-monoxide Spath otherwise it would be going off when you breathed out :-)

Digressing a bit many homes have smoke detectors but no carbon monoxide ones. Should we have both ? Also why is there such a difference in prices ? I was looking for a replacement Carbon Monoxide one and they ranged from £10 to £40 plus and they didn't detect smoke either !

Bad idea.

1. It would not be kept in the best location for protection, unless you nailed it to the ceiling.

2. It might make you feel safe, so you might not fit proper ones.

3. You might go out, leaving your family at home unprotected.

Not quite correct. It is slightly lighter than air.

Some recommendations seem to suggest detectors should be five foot from the floor, while others suggest just below ceiling height.
