Laptop Check Media Fail

I've got a laptop that says Check Media Fail when turned on. I've been watching a few YouTube videos so I'm now making a Windows 10 bootable USB and changing the settings on the laptop from UEFI to CSM.

My question is that IF this works and it boots up okay, will a system recovery help solve the problem so that it can just boot up normally again without USB?

Can you not change the settings from UEFI to CSM without making a bootable USB?

I would have thought you could just go in to the BIOS and change it.

(However maybe on newer PCs for security reasons it wont let you do that. I only have older PCs where I CAN do it in the BIOS)

Thanks for the answers. But it wouldn't boot with the USB either. Then when it tried to install there was a partition problem. In the end I just wiped everything and created a new partition and windows installed okay and now it loads again without need for USB. By the way the F2 suggestion didn't seem to have any effect maybe that's only on Dell laptops.
