Corruption of xD picture card

Hi all,

Hopefully someone can shed light on this

The other day, I took my xD card out of my Fuki camera and attempted to copy pictures using my external (USB-connected) card reader. Out of around 200 on the card, some 80-odd failed to copy.

However I tried to read them, they failed to open with an "I/O error". In the end I ran Windows error checking on the card - all was OK (!). I then ran a DOS CHKDSK in desperation. That reported that the file sizes for all the "broken" files was incorrrect and truncated them all to 16Kb

So, my pictures are lost - I can (almost) live with that, but what I can't live with is not knowing WHAT HAPPENED and WHY

Any experts out there able to shed any light?

Thanks

Had similar problem, can you see all the photos on the cameras lcd screen? you should then be able to copy all photos using the fuji software via the camera's usb connection

When I'd copied all the pictures off that I could read, when I put the card back in the camera I got a big red "card error" message, so no - I couldn't read them in the camera.

What WAS annoying was that immediately after I'd taken the shots, they were find (I tend to review pictures every so often)
