However I can't work out how you'd install them before installing Windows. Sorry!
The contact options for HP Support should be here but you need to enter your laptop's serial number to view them:

When you get a new computer you are advised to create your on recovery discs. On top of that you can create a system image on DVDs or a second hard drive, which will enable you to recover from a disc failure. If you have to replace your computer you should bear that in mind.
If you search around you might still find that you can buy a refurbished laptop with Windows 7 on it - Buenchico has a favourite source of such machines.

Thanks Buenchico
when i bought the laptop new it did not come with any discs at all
I have been in touch with HP but there is no support for my laptop (2011) and the only reason i think about the drivers are is that the installation disc i have been given cannot be the genuine disc because when i put it in it starts to load files then asks for to load drivers which it will not do
HP suggested that i buy new installation from Amazon
I do not know what to do now
Being a person with dementia does not help either but thanks for your info

What worries me is that the physical damage to the laptop might have extended beyond the hard drive. If there's a crack in the motherboard it could cause major problems. Even a crack in the thermal bonding paste on the processor could cause the laptop to overheat easily.
It might be worth asking PC World if they can help. Normally I'd not recommend their services, as they charge a flat rate of £50 (plus parts, where required) for all laptop repairs. That often means that people get charged £50 for something which only takes a few seconds to fix. However if they could actually fix your laptop you'd probably be getting your money's worth.
Even so, since Bhg481 has suggested it (and I've already provided you with a link), looking for a reliable reconditioned laptop might actually be the best way forward.

Extending Buenchico's last post - I had a Pavillion laptop which just slithered off the car onto the floor whilst in its padded case ie, not a heavy fall. The display went funny and, even after replacement, never properly recovered; after a few weeks it gave up altogether. Experts suggested it could be a cracked motherboard so I gave up to it and replaced it.
Hi,
For the driver issue, I think you can try to download a free drivers update software to help you, for your laptop, it may not solve your problem 100%, but you can try. Because it will more convenient.
There are several popular free drivers download software in CNET such as Driver Easy and Driver Booster.
Download them and scan for your laptop to let them to help you identify which drivers you are missing. And then you can decide how to fix it.
