you can save you favorite sites, as bookmarks
Well, jj, it's the norm for me, but I don't have to retype all the websites' addresses again. I just enter what I'm searching for (e.g. drain covers) into the Google search box, and up comes a list of sites. I don't have many sites that I use regularly, anyway, so that's no problem for me.
You can choose what to delete. You've not told us which browser you're using though, so it's hard to give you exact instructions.

If it happens to be Firefox, when you click 'Clear all current history' you can choose whether to include 'Browsing & Download History' and/or 'Form & Search History' or not.

However if you're regularly visiting certain sites you shouldn't be relying on your browser history to find them. You should be bookmarking the relevant sites (and possibly adding the most used to your bookmarks toolbar).

firefox - Chris - altho I am surprised myself but I do look at hundreds and hundreds of sites thru the week.

will have a go and bookmark - I may delete All this time - but when I go back onto the new sites and having to type fully - I will try and bookmark - if I can do it.

just looked there and in the last 7 days I have "viewed" 1406 sites. LOL
I don't delete history save for massive pc failures.
I think they drop out after a decade or so anyway.
