I have the free version and they are asking me to install the new version which they say is better? Is this version still free please, it doesn’t make it very clear. I have a laptop with W.10, also do I need anything else to get better protection? Rosy

Sometime they up-version the free one, but they're keen on getting you to trial their pro version for free, too.
you have to install the trial period which, if you do not update to premium at the end of the period, reverts to the same free app!
PS this supplements an anti-virus, it doesn't replace one.

I also use superantispyware to make it difficult to collect information on me that I've not ask any organisation to collect.
It is easy to convert the "paid for" version to the free version.

Or as has been said, just let the paid for version run for a while then if you dont pay it converts to the free version.

Thank you all for replying, I will have a little play around with them, I don’t actually know how much the paid for version even costs.....rosy
IMO little point in going for the pro version. One can run the free version on demand anyway, why have it running in the background using PC resources permanently ?

Good point OG thank you for that :o)
>>One can run the free version on demand anyway

But the free one will only catch the Malware AFTER it has hit your PC and Malwarebytes wont find it till you manually run it. And you may not run it for a week (or longer)

But because the paid for one runs ALL THE TIME it will find the malware as soon as it hits your PC, without you having to do anything.
True, but chances are that's enough. Spot & remove as required. Your AV should catch anything seriously malignant.
No point getting the paid for version. The only difference is that it runs all the time in the background and is supposed to catch malware as soon as it appears. I have the free version and it always updates automatically as soon as you start to run it. I just run it once a week. But it has never found anything in years. I also have 'Windows Defender' so I assume that gets rid of malware as well.
If you keep avoiding the update it is more than likely that you will be regularly pestered by the 'pop-up', The supposed 'better' version is free but does install with a trial of the Premium version. Originally the trial was for a month but I think you will find that it has been reduced to a fortnight. However, you can cancel the trial immediately after it is overlayed onto your present free version.

Turning off Malwarebytes Premium Trial......Open Malwarebytes, click on settings > my account > deactivate premium trial......... A notice will then appear to let you know that cancelling the Trial will revert your account to Free and you'll loose Premium features.........Which , in my opinion, are Not worth paying for as mentioned by O_G.

Incidentally, you have Windows Defender inbuilt into Windows 10 and a lot of folk, including myself, are happy enough with it as the Anti Virus programme which is needed alongside Malwarebytes.
