The compass has never let me down until this year as I use it for the alarm as well as everything else. I have set the alarm a number of times to check it, as it never went off this morning, the light flashes but there is no sound which makes it useless as an alarm. I have looked everywhere for a volume control but can't find one, so I am hoping that some technically minded AB wizard can help.

As with everything in the world, try a restart.

If it has removable batteries, take them out and re-insert them.

Failing that, buy a cheap alarm clock.

I assume you have checked that it doesn't just need new batteries.
