The settings now have to be included in the site. The law has changed so that you must have the ability to consent or deny cookies whenever you want to. In the past, your consent was taken for granted. Now you can control which cookies track you.

Hopefully, once we are all aware of the settings menu, the link to it can be more discretely placed. It is obtrusive at the moment, but could be just at the foot of the page in future.

You need to realise we are all using different devices with different views. I'm currently on a tablet and it doesn't cover an advert. You have to swipe very carefully to get it out of the way of the answer now button.

I can imagine on a smaller device it must be annoying and could be better placed, I am on a PC and have my screen set large in order to read and it overlaps the last in LP - I know that is personal to me.

Maybe the third party couls rethink the location of the privacy settings box.

I am a bit mystified by the reference to a ‘third party’.
It is obviously integrated into the AB site, and has to be to comply with GDPR. This add-on must be AB, not a third party.
They may have got someone else to code it, but AB have done it.

You are not wrong, the Ed did mentioned a ‘third party’.
It was the Ed’s use of the term I was querying. It made it sound like the appearance of the blue box was implemented without AB consent or knowledge.
As the cookie setting is a legal requirement, then AB must have implemented it, not someone else.

It's how it sounded as we had no prior warning which may have reduced threads like these.

Spath we know what cookies are and the need for a settings option, we all use many other sites too - it is the placement in this case.

It would be much better with the other site links at the bottom of the page. There is already a Cookie Policy link there, so the settings link could be on that page.

Yes, AB has implemented the cookie banner to comply with the new data regulations. The code is provided by a third party which supplies cookie banners to thousands of websites - it's sort of an industry standard. The Privacy settings box has been implemented due to changes the third party has made to their code, so we haven't chosen where it has appeared and I'm not sure at the moment whether or not we can move it, where it would be best to move it to, or if it is required to stay on the screen at all times.

Like all other consent under the GDPR, consenting to cookies needs to be a clear affirmative action. An example is clicking through an opt-in box or choosing settings from the menu.
Pay attention to not have pre-ticked boxes on the consent form!
