Sky Plus

I am getting a sky plus box from a friend but it does not have a sky plus card,can i use the card in my own box or do I need new card?

Once you have put your card into the new box it will go through an installation process - during which you will have to telephone Sky to 'pair' the box and card.

You do need to be sure that the box is 'out of contract' - ie your friend has completed the first 12/24 months of their contract with Sky after they first had this box.

Is it definitely a Sky Plus box and not a more recent Sky Q box?

While can sell on a Sky Plus box after you have "paid for it" you cant sell on a Sky Q box as they are owned by Sky for the life of the product.
