Yes, but don't forget that you'll need to back them up regularly in case of HDD failure on your laptop. External HDDs are cheap, just plug in to a USB socket and you can drag-and-drop files to it.

You are saving stuff to something you weren't aware you had ?
Something not even part of you PC equipment, to boot ?
Oh dear.
If your "one drive" is full please think about what you are saving and how you are saving it.
Need to look at PC settings me thinks.

I have w10 on my indoors 'putor.
On xp in my workshop.

Might be a setting in cloud thingy that does it.
Check your profile settings.
Hey hey ! What is a one drive ?

dancer..it's a cloud storage thingy
They cunningly give you 5GB free and then offer to increase your space for a fee - £1.99 a month for 50GB is the next step up.
If you prefer cloud storage to having your own external HDD have a look at MEGA - a New Zealand company that give you 50GB free, although it's not automatic like One Drive ie, you have to send files there like you would to an external HDD.
Question Author
but can I continue to save and it go to hard drive is my question ?
Murray - look at the first word of the first response you got.

One drive is a Microsoft cloud storage utility. I have it available ( I subscribe to Microsoft Office 365), but never use it. I store stuff locally on the hard drive, and also in the cloud on DropBox.

All these cloud storage systems, such as One Drive behave a bit like an external drive. They are convenient if you access those files from different computers.

If you don't use different computers, then they are a pain and actually worse than having everything stored locally, because you can only access the files if you have internet access.

I use Macs, but a quick search on copying files fom OneDrive to your local drive yields this:

Once you have copied to your own computer, you can clear the pictures out from the OneDrive

If you want to prevent this happening in future, this link might be helpful:

Good luck!
