I have a new Fire 7. Just taken it out of box. I only want to use it to store music and videos. I do not want to connect it to wi-fi...ever. I cannot access any of its functions because the first two screens tell me to choose language, then second screen says I have to connect to wi-fi. I simply want to use it WITHOUT connecting to internet. How do I get past the second screen? And...how do I turn of the very annoying voice?
I think you need to register it with Amazon and while you can register it through another computer connected to the internet if the Fire 7 is not connected how will it know its registered so you may need to set it up with Wi-Fi then see if you can turn Wi-Fi off
The point of the Kindle is that it works with the Amazon which is online.
Why didn't you just get a few memory cards or memory stick, you WILL need to connect to wi fi to set it up the whole point of a kindle is it is for people who want an easy to use internet etc. As far as the voice is concerned go into the Alexa app and switch it off.
So it is unusable until it has been connected to the net? I thought it could be used as a media device with content loaded direct from my laptop. I do not want Amazon knowing my whereabouts & sending me ads. How very annoying.
As already stated, connect to wifi, register it, then disconnect the wifi and never use the wifi connection again.
As it has very limited storage you will need to put a memory card in it
