Microsoft Nokia Lumia 550 Phone

I have a Nokia Lumia 550 phone, my connection is with 'talktalk' in a package (T.V., Broadband, Phone and mobile phone). I am a complete divvy with phone settings etc. Recently, when someone calls me they cannot connect, they get an answerphone message saying that the phone is engaged. I dialled my mobile from my landline to check, and received the same 'engaged' message. Does anyone know how to alter the settings or correct this problem please?

It may be something as simple as a poor signal .. this would normaly divert callers to your answer service.
Does it happen all the time, or just in a specific location?

This is a Windows phone.

Microsoft have totally stopped making and selling Windows phones and ditched the phone market totally.

So I think the best suggestion I can make is ditch this phone and swap it for an Android phone.

Microsoft are now making more and more features in windows 10 to work with Android phones so it will "fit" if you have a Windows PC.

Thanks guys, I have downloaded the user manual for my phone, but it resembles 'war and peace' in size, and unless John Le Carre's name is on a book cover I usually ignore it. However, I will have a go at deciphering it when I have the time. It appears to happen wherever I am, so is not confined to one location. I don't really want to change my phone, because I can send texts, make calls etc. We have a phone shop locally and I went in to ask them, but they only deal with EE.
