Although I have used a computer for many years, it is only in the past two weeks, since I joined the answerbank that I have participated in exchanges across the Internet, apart from e-mail. I am very wary of chat rooms and wouldn't feel comfortable in one, so was very surprised to be upbraided today for not being polite on the answerbank. I was accused of talking at someone, rather than to them and am quite bemused. I was answering a question and mentioned the profile name of the person I was disagreeing with, so people would know which thread I was on about. As it's not a chatline, I was very surprised that someone would take umbrage at my formal approach. I'm in my mid thirties, so I can't blame it on a generational thing, but have I made an incredible online faux pas and can I expect a virtual spanking? I really am quite confused.

Seriously though, I know what you mean about some people, don't let it worry you. I just had a post banned which made a 1% criticism of somebody, some people just can't stand anybody not agreeing with them I suppose.
If you have a standard way of writing which is based on your personal view of the world then just keep to it and don't let all the uptight intolerant people get to you.
