Blade Runner 2049 Dvd - Faulty?

I bought Blade Runner 2049 on DVD and settled down to watch it only for the opening to start pixellating with popping sounds. I changed it for another copy and it's exactly the same. Is it MEANT to be like this (as some sort of conceptual joke) or are all the copies dud?

I've just looked at the reviews on Amazon....yes, it apparently is like that.

Not had the dvd but did go to the cinema on release day to watch it with my son. Also seen it on Sky Prem a couple of times. Great film. If you are a fan of the original you will love it. Part of a review is copied and pasted below.
