I am doing everything right - the instructions are written on the underside of the cover. However when I slide the thingy to the bottom to store the programme and move the central heating slider to either of the options, the red light remains on and the boiler is running although it is not programmed to switch itself on until the following morning. I have checked again and again that I have the day and times correctly entered

Do you have a model number
Does your controller have the facility to "advance" to the next programme? If so, it could be worth trying to move on once or twice to see if the boiler turns off.
If your guess is right, Bob, it shoots my theory down. Perhaps the clock is 12 hours out of phase.

I will try to see if there is a model number although it is not visible and I have lost the handbook. No Malagabob that is not the one.

My Honeywell is ST6400C if that throws any light on the matter.
See if this is any use to you, Stargazer.

Thanks Tony. Yes this is the one. By the way LBC is my favourite station after radio 4 which I always stuck to.
Hope you get it sorted, Stargazer.

Thanks Tony. It was the overide button that I needed to press and that has sorted it.
Well done, Stargazer. If it ever happens again you'll know what to do.
