you would need a modified or 'chipped' xbox to play them on which would mean you would no longer be able to access xbox live.

also the chip is expensive, and you'd have to put it in yourself or get someone else to do it. Its not an easy process either. It will likly require alot of sodering, and creating new leads.

Question though, why not just buy the game. They arn't that expensive, and its not like the programers who created it, did it for thier health. (I guess they did, sence they are using thier pay to keep them self alive.) If its for backup perposes, its not really much of an option for consol games. You can however get CD repair kits that can fix scratched CDS. Provided the scratch isn't too deep. As long as you havn't affected the data layer of the CD then the CD should be able to be repaired.

There is not too much soldering involved in fitting a chip. in fact there are some solderless solutions.

If cost is a problem look into softmodding (google for it)
