Motorcycle Helmet Cameras

I'm looking at getting one of these but the battery life only seems to be 1-2 hours. What do you do if you're going on a longer ride? Can you suggest any decent models?

I understand that Go Pro is the gold standard at reasonable price...no idea about battery life.

We use Go Pros as well, but they usually only last a couple of hours so we have spare batteries. x

Would rechargeable batteries not work out cheaper in the long run?

As I am approaching 70 I decided to hang up my motorcyle helmet about 4 years ago.Would a 12 volt dashboard camera (car) be able to be mounted on fairing/handlebars or windshield and be connected to motorcycle battery? Would that not attain the same purpose as a helmet camera?

Whilst cycling I use a TomTom Bandit.
When the battery life is waning, I remove the ‘battstick’ and simply replace it with another, swapping over the micro SD card at the same time.

retro the point with a helmet cam is that it sees what you see...you do a shoulder check or a road scan and the cam sees what you have seen...on the handlebars you get a different view....it depends what you want. DH used to train bikers for the IAM and RoSPA and he used a handlebar mount because he wanted to film his trainee. A helmet cam though would have shown the trainee what an advanced biker sees as they ride and how they interpret it.
