Why Is My Ext Hard Drive Registering As A Cd Drive? And How Can I Correct It?

I have 2 WD MyBook 2TB Ext hard drives.

and both of them register as CD drives on my laptop.
One of them has now registered as a HD drive as well so I can access it - but i dont know why, or whether i did something to make it correct itself.

but the other just wont!

why and how does this happen? I have loads of ext hard drives , and disks etc and none of the others has ever done this.

I looked it up and Stellar software free download claimed to be able to access the drive - but it didnt.

i can't format it, because there is lots of stuff i need to get off first.

Any ideas what i can do?

im on win 10 and a HP 15 laptop

thanks :)

same on all
Sounds a disk problem then. Can you extract the drive and use a different enclosure ? Could be the enclosure interface electronics.
