In Italian, "CH" is pronounced as "K". "C" is pronounced as the "CH" in Chester. JimF is correct.

Depends which vowels it's adjacent to. If it's adjacent to a narrow vowel (E or I), then it's as above, but if it's adjacent to a broad vowel, then it's a hard "K" sound. E.g.

capisco (I understand) - ka-PEECE-ko
Luciano - loo-CHA-no
capisci (you understand) - ka-PEE-shee
