It's taking ages to back up photos on my Android

Its been saying that it is backing up /getting ready to back up around 170 photos for days now , but it has stayed around that figure

I'm connected to WiFi when I come home from work , so between about 7pm in the evening and 9am , the next day

Any suggestions on why it is taking so long or what I can do to solve the problem ?

Backing up to where?

There is a Google photo app that came preinstalled on the phone ; so I presume it's backing up to the cloud somewhere ?

Basically each photo I take appears in the 'gallery' as well as in 'photos '

When I go into photos , it's saying it's backing up
Have you considered buying yourself a portable hard drive and backing up anything/everything you want to make sure is safe onto it ? The cost is around £45 or less for a 1Tb drive and it takes you next to no time to do the copying over - it is yours and yours alone, as accessible as you care to make it. But in the case of data on a phone you would need to cross the phone/computer interface.

Any ideas anyone?
Did you check Google photo. If you log in to Gmail or other google app and turn the sync on then it will automatically save all your photos. Check Google photos.

Yes the sync is on

What I'm saying is that it's taking absolutely ages to back the photos

The number of photos to be backed up has hardly been reduced over the last week
