My Sony smart phone works perfectly except that it has suddenly stopped sending my text messages to a relative in Sweden. The number is not blocked and I've been told my settings are correct so why is only one number affected? I just can't make sense of this. Any ideas or cures please?

Is your relative's 'phone faulty perhaps?
Is it the only international text you try ?
Just wondering if you text other folk abroad, especially in Sweden, that gets there ok.
Maybe they've inadvertently blocked your number on their phone (as opposed to vice versa on yours).
tell them to reboot there phone..may help

Perhaps you're in a similar situation, where you've got an active 'bundle' on your phone (allowing you to use your phone normally for calls and texts to the UK) but you've run out of 'plain' (i.e. 'non-bundle) PAYG credit?

Thanks to all those replying but all suggestions have been tested except for that by Buenchico. This is something I hadn't considered but I am a pay-as-you-go customer so I'll investigate by taking it up with my network provider.
