I’ve been using a small (and cheap) Taotronics, but after a few years the battery has given up on being recharged, so impossible to pair.

Any recommendations for a replacement? The Logitech Bluetooth Audio Adapter version looks sound. Will it do what I want?

I want to plug the transmitter into my amp and pair to a Sony bluetooth speaker.

Rechargeable batteries unfortunately have a finite number of recharge cycles before packing up.
I have a Bluetooth transmitter/receiver (Golvery from Amazon) which works very well from several different devices to both Bluetooth speakers and headphones....and it can be used while still plugged in to the mains while recharging. Perhaps you could try using your device while it is still plugged in to the mains before buying a new one?

Thanks Gingejbee, good advice all round. If the mains doesn't work, the Golvery looks like a better bet.

Double-thanks. The Golvery worked straight out of the box, no flaffing, no problem.
