If I already have a router and phone line with BT and want to go with Plusnet do Plusnet send out a new router? And do they Install it or do I have to install it myself? I am only, thinking at the moment of changing provider as BT seems to be getting more expensive

Plusnet (which is actually part of BT anyway) include a free router with all their packages:

As the router should come pre-configured, there should be no 'installation' involved, other than simply plugging it in.

I’d be reluctant to change my broadband supplier whilst all the companies are having ‘issues’ with the level of their phone support - 95% of switches go without a hitch, but if you are one of the other 5% then you could be up poo creek without a broadband paddle. I’d wait until Plusnet are firing on all cylinders before committing to a change.
If you're sticking to the same sort of connection ie, not upgrading to fibre then the old router should work. If they do send you a replacement router it might be "better" than your old one (more powerful etc) but anything you have connected wirelessly will need to be connected to the new router if you decide to install it. I would try using the old router, only installing a replacement if you have problems, as it will save you having to manually reconnect any laptops etc.
