How can i get java applets like chat rooms working on it?


i know a fair bit about windows... ie services etc, and i've been through internet explorer's security settings, installed java etc, but i cant for the life of me work out why java applets wont load, even when they're on a trusted site.


any ideas? thanks in advance

Not sure what you're asking here.... IE on Windows 2003 doesn't run a Java applet? Firstly, why would you want it to? It's a SERVER not a CLIENT system. You should worry about the clients being able to run it.

Is it a Sun or MS applet? You may need to install Sun's Java VM....

i did mean running java apps in IE yes... sorry for any confusion...


java VM is installed...

It appears to be java applets such as chat rooms, and various point and click menu apps that dont seem to function or display at all, just a blank frame and java logo in the corner, hence why i think something is stopping it from loading?

it is a server but gets used occasionally as a workstation when the main workstations are in short supply!!! :-O (i know, not a very wise move, but i'm just following orders).

i have also checked for any other software installed that may be blocking it and there are none apart from the default windows setup

any suggestions?
