I'm using a Belkin router with no problems - get a refund from the retailer? A lot of people prefer the Netgear models or even D-Link.
I have a D-link wireless router, but wouldn't recommend it. I have had a number of Internet failures that are fixed by turning the router off and on again. Also it was a nightmare to set up and enable encryption. Unless your a computer engineer!!!
I too use a Belkin router on NTL and wired through the set top box. Although the intial configuration was tricky it works well now. Netgear are very simple to set up with a built in Wizard but sometimes drop the link and need to be powered down and then back on
