I couldn't believe that anyone does this until we had a socially distanced meeting in a garden with very good friends today! They do!

Yup
Not me but neighbours disinfectant all their doorstep deliveries
No, not here but if it makes them feel safer ,that’s not a problem
If you read some sites, Mumsnet is a good one, there's a sort of competitive isolation going on, a kind of Corona Olympics, based on how sanctimonious people have been during lockdown.
My mum doesn’t quarantine but she does disinfect most of her shopping.
I deliver food packages to people shielding and all the contents and the bag are wiped down with antibac before leaving on the doorstep.
I did. I washed all washable stuff in packets, bottles, plastic wrap etc., and disposed of boxes where I could.

Last 2 deliveries I haven't done though.
My relatives in the USA leave all Mail for 72 hours, then disinfect it before opening.
I've wiped things down, though I've not been obsessive about it. I think it would be easy to get carried away.

Yes - same friends quarantine their post too - can only assume it's never urgent!
I'm all for being careful but obsessive I cannot be.
I would open and read post with disposable gloves.

I haven't even invested in disposable gloves - I just wash or sanitise my hands.
Diddly, I have them in so I’d use them , from the days of colouring my hair :0)
yes
yes I agree it is inceredible
they are all of course obsessional neurotic
We wipe all our deliveries before putting them away.

All post and packages are left for forty-eight hours before opening.

My wife is in a serious risk category, so we take appropriate steps.

tell them to iron it - clearly they have to turn the iron on

this was suggested by Porton Down I hope you are all watching Salisbury after Ivey infected the US postal service with anthrax - no really
I have several work colleagues who have been doing this (not vulnerable shielders, just ultra cautious). They won't touch post or deliveries for 72 hours and disinfect everything. Personally apart from lots of hand washing I've not done anything differently and have opened my (many) deliveries as soon as they arrive. The food shopping gets put away same as it always did.
I have been polishing
off my gin bottles
does this count ?
A quick squirt of disinfectant in each one should do the trick, it’s the American way.
