Have you tried right-clicking on it, to see if there's a 'Remove' (or similar) option?

That's always been one of the ways of getting rid of the 'Feedback' button, so it might work the same way with the new banner that you're seeing:

Alternatively, switch to a decent browser (which definitely excludes anything from Microsoft!)
Go to settings in Edge. Its behind the three dots top right.
Choose Appearance
Customise toolbar
show feedback on/off

Thanks for trying Buenchico & Maydup but I'm still unable to get rid of it. The problem seems to be related to "Ads.Yahoo.com" and I've found this on the internet https://www.fixyourbrowser.com/removal-instructions/remove-ads-yahoo-com-pop-up/ but I'm a bit worried about trying to follow it. If you have any further thoughts they would be very welcome.
Download and run AdwCleaner. (There's no installation process; you just run the downloaded file directly). When it finds that you've got malware on your computer (as it almost certainly will) accept the option to get rid of it:

Thanks again Buenchico, I've downloaded and run Malwarebytes and quarantined all the things that were found, but sadly I still have the issue. By right clicking the banner I can "copy link" this gives me windows-feedback:///?contextid=509 It is a nuisance because on Microsoft pages a new message keeps coming up "What do you want to do with get-user-id? From: ads.yahoo.com" with options to open, save or cancel. I've tried all sorts of response, been asked to log in to my Microsoft account, which I did but not from the link. Clicking "cancel" removes everything but after less than a minute the message re-appears. Not a dramatic problem for me, just a blasted nuisance.

I'm now wondering if microsoft have been playing silly ***, after a couple of nuisance days, and totally out of the blue, a banner appears on microsoft edge offering an update. Updated and problem has disappeared!
