I have recently re-installed windows on my computer and was looking at the device manager. It had a question mark next to a 'SM Bus Controller'. I researched this on the internet but found only that it was to do with Intel drivers. However, I am running on an AMD Athlon chip. When trying to re-install the driver from the internet Windows couldn't find a driver to download. If somebody could please point me in the right direction then I would be very greatfull. Thanks.

The SM Bus Controller driver relates to Intel chips on your motherboard and has nothing to do with the manufacturer of your CPU.

If you can identify the chipset of your motherboard (user manual, system information app.) you can download the relevant driver from the Intel website here.
If you cannot identify your chipset download this Intel Chipset Identification Utility.

Thanks I will try this.
Let me know how you get on.

I thought that AMD moved away from Intel compatibility with the Athlon (maybe not!) with motherboards using VIA, nVidia, ALi or SiS chipsets.
