What Am I Doing Wrong?
9 Answers
I signed up to MSN News so I can read and comment on the articles. When I comment on an article, I get an email telling me someone has replied or liked my comment. It then says View Conversation and when I click on that, it takes me to the article, but when I click to open the comments, nothing happens. Any idea why this is please?

MSN is part of the Microsoft family of businesses. However if MSN feature an article on their site from an organisation that is not part of the Microsoft stable and they use a comments option, you are not necessarily "known" to them so cannot use the feature. There are a number of organisations that provide this "comments feature" for news and views sites just one of which being Disqus. If you want to do more than give a like or dislike to other peoples comments, then you have to register with the organisation that is providing the service. Rather like having to register with wordpress/gravatar to have Avatar images with this site. Disqus are pretty good and I am registered on there as Togo. They can be pretty random, mind, with blocking comments that do not conform to an ever changing, but never expressed, "fashion".
I understand what you mean Togo but I can't comment on any of the articles whereas in the past I have always been able to. When I click on Join the conversation nothing happens whereas before, peoples comments would be there and I could add mine.I tried a different browser, and that worked for a while, but then that stopped working too. It's almost like I've been banned but they haven't said I have.
Hmm. Another funny one then. (I had gone to bed by the time you posted last night). Sounds like a setting problem either because you have unwittingly altered them, or the os has after an upgrade or patch. I remember a while ago that the plugin icons were removed from the comments option(facebook, twitter, pintrest, etc.) and replaced with the publisher icons so you may have a pop up blocker issue. You may need to add MSN to exceptions in the blocker. Good luck.

Look what I found Barsel, on an old Microsoft tech/community site.

Thanks Togo, I will have a look at the answers to see what I can find. What puzzles me is, I haven't changed any of my settings and I've been commenting on that site for as long as I can remember. For the first time, I had an answer deleted, no idea why, unless there was a word that pinged their system although for the life of me I can't work out what it was, and since then I don't seem to be able to post. Will have a look at the answers in your link. Thanks again.
