Recovering Deleted Folders

How do I recover folders I've deleted in error? Is there a simple-to-use download where I can recover just the folders I want to, by name, rather than everything that's been deleted?

Are they in the trash can folder still ? If not, there are free recovery programmes you can download. Just don't write or install to the disk with the missing folders in case you overwrite them.

can you clarify, are you talking about just the folders or their contents too? ie do you still have the files that were within?

Are the folders in your recycle bin??

Recuva ain't bad. Have used it in the past.

there must be - but I have never found them
you usually have to pay (a sub )


deleter experts will tell you what occurs
if you are lucky then the identifier ( doc ) etc just gets ripped off, and then it get consigned to oblivion. but watch out! if you dawdle you may overwrite

oh yes yes - because the police possess progz that can identify remains of jpg ( narty mucky photies ) and putting back jpg on them. And then they an see what you were looking at midnight the night previously - - dirty boy! (*)

so the answer is yes in principle
but ya have to find one

I erased ( wrote 0 in every space ) ie gone gone quite gone
all my docs over the week end
BUT - I have 6 rotating back ups

and the lesson of the day is - - - - keep back ups ( once is - - not enough!)

(*) one aider of terrorism ( convicted ) was confronted with a deleted email: "I have deleted your last as you said and no one knows....." - - oo er Mrs !

I tried recuva
and found it less good
so I - - - deleted it

I have managed to delete a lecture the night before I was due to give it

Can you not click on the folder that had the deleted folder and choose the "restore previous version" option?

Have you checked whether they are still in the Recycle bin? All my deleted files and folders go in there until I empty the bin

When you delete your files, they are not really wasted. Any file can be recovered, provided it is not overwritten. You can check free available recovery software to restore your folder.

Recovering Deleted Folders
I'll elaborate. Let's call the folder "Cruising" - it contained lots of photos and a few "Word" documents. I deleted it (completely) from my computer in error and need to retrieve it if possible. I had about 12 similar folders which also got deleted. No, they're not still in the recycle bin! Thanks all of you for your input. Here's hoping!
