Proof Positive

I confront them with their noise nuisance and they deny it, making me out to be a liar. Other neighbours know of this noise nuisance, but they won't back me up, so I need proof positive. Where can I buy suitable "equipment" to record this noise nuisance? Ta Muchly and Keep Safe.

You could use a mobile phone. if you have a smartphone some local authorities have a noise nuisance app you can use to record in diary form.

Got mine from the local council and also called the help line one evening and held the phone so they could hear

Hi guys, I don't have a mobile phone, only a handheld dictaphone and that doesn't do any good...it would have to be stronger, impulse-wise or whatever the terminology is - but Many Thanks for your quick replies.

In that case a suggest you ask a neighbor to record it useing that app.

Check with your local council or on their website. They should have resources to help you with noise nuisance.

Can't see how using a mobile phone would help, anyway - it would only prove that there was noise, not how loud it was.

The noise nuisance app records decibels

Neighbours are useless, Tried council before years ago and they "installed" recording devices, but that was exceptional noise and the "services" were involved, this noise is one person, but erratic and difficult to pinpoint as to when and where the nuisance will occur, but occur it does, whenever it is at home.

None of them have got good reviews, APG. A reliable one costs hundreds of pounds, not a tenner

Looks like it might be the council and/or environmental health...just been looking at their site again. I'll look at your link AuntPG, in spite of Barry's comment - I need all the help I can get!...any listening micsout there, etc?

Before you go spending your cash woodelf, bear in mind that even if you do manage to record this noise nuisance on your equipment, it is not 'proof' that the noise emanates from said neighbour. It is simply proof that you have recorded some noise.

What do you mean about 'services' being involved when the Council looked into it previously? You really should persist with them - they do have powers. Keep pressing them, and consider writing to your MP if they ignore you.

What sort of noise are they creating and what time of day? Is it prolonged?

I could get an independent witness to the recording. The 'services' previously were the police, some armed, but nowhere that serious this time, just sheer harassment with stamping (a deliberate act), ranting and raving, each and every time person is at home, at all times of the day and night. But I will persevere and will look at your link CJ !
