Click on "Tools" on the top menu and a drop down menu appears. Select "Internet Options" and a new little window arrives. Click on the "Content Advisor" tag along the top and a sub section is opened. Look for the "Enable" button in the upper portion and click this. You now have the opportunity to set the tolerance for topics such as language, nudity, sex, and violence. There is a slider control to set the tolerance level for each subject. You can set a password when you're done, but remember, as with all passwords, WRITE IT DOWN and save in a safe place. Do not rely on your memory.
This function relies on all site creators giving their site a certain rating for these subjects. The vast majority do, as some of the biggest search engines refuse to list un-rated sites.
Another solution is the use of a third party counter measure such as "Net Nanny". Try entering this into http://www.Google.com for more info.
