I have an Olympus Dictaphone which is quite old. Usually when I plug it into the computer, it finds the files. I’ve recently started recording onto a card rather than the dictaphone memory. But now when I plug it in, the computer doesn’t find the cards contents. Any idea how I can find these?

What are you plugging in and how? Are you connecting the Dictaphone to the computer via a lead or are you removing the memory card from the Dictaphone and inserting it into a card reader? Also what type of card is it? (I'm guessing, based upon a bit of Googling, that it might be a microSD card but I could be completely wrong!).

Buen- I’m using a usb lead to connect the dictaphone to the PC. The PC finds it and opens it. But only shows me the contents of the dictaphone rather than the card. Yes it’s a tiny card, I guess a micro SD!
The microSD car will have come with an adapter, as this one does for example:

Dig it out from wherever you put it and put the microSD card into it.(effectively giving you a regular SD card).

Insert the composite memory card into your computer's card reader in order to be able to access the files on it, just as you would from (say) a USB memory stick.

If you've lost the adapter, you can buy one cheaply online

or just ask your friends for one. (Since most mobile phones take microSD cards, there must be millions of people who've got those adapters stuck in drawers somewhere!).

If you computer hasn't got a card reader, you can buy a USB one online too. If you do so, you might as well buy one which accepts a microSD card directly, cutting out the need for the card adapter altogether:
