My first printer, many years ago, was an inkjet which I used infrequently and worked out I used more ink using the cleaning cycle than I did with useful printing. Apart from the expense it's very frustrating having to get the printer working properly each time you use it. Laserjets are more expensive to buy but they work first time every time and, whilst the replacement cartridges are relatively expensive, they last a long time and can often have their life extended a bit yy taking them out and gently tipping them to re-distribute the remaining toner. I'd never go back to ink-type printers.
