I purchased some AAA batteries, but when they arrived they were too short, the ones in the doorbell are (7cm, 2.75 inches) long, whereas the ones which I received are 2 inches long

Assuming it's the video doorbell that's in my Amazon link below, it's designed to be be used with 18650 batteries. They're the rechargeable version of standard AA cells. If you're buying non-rechargeable batteries, opt for lithium cells for the longest life. (e.g. Energizer Ultimate).

Many thanks for you reply and your assistance Buenchico, it is the same doorbell but a different name, the doorbell that you have displayed actually shows the number of the battery but it doesn't show the number on my instruction sheet. As you can see I have put you as the "Best Answer."

The 18650 is a 3.7v battery .. it may look like an AA or a AAA type. But it is totaly different in size and power capacity.

As I correctly indicated above though, 18650 batteries are rechargeable. So you need to check your doorbell's instructions to see how you're meant to charge them. If you really need to replace your batteries though (because they're no longer accepting a charge) see here for replacements:

That bell also works of a 24v power supply .. only this morning I scrapped about 100 of those, most were brand new !!

As a side note, 3.7v lithium-ion rechargeable cylindrical cells are given the code which denotes its physical dimensions i.e.

18650 = 18mm diameter X 65mm length
14500 = 14mm diameter X 50mm length (similar size to AA)
10440 = 10mm diameter X 44mm length (similar size to AAA)
