Finding employment in the IT sector

I am thinking of entering a MSCE course to gain Microsoft qualifications, would this be worth doing. If not can anybody suggest a different route into the IT sector.

In my opinion, yes. I am following the MCSE route, however having passed the four core modules for NT4, Microsoft have phased this out and replaced it with the Windows 2000 track so I now have to take a conversion exam. Anyone starting now would have to take the Windows 2000 core modules (5) and electives (2), a total of 7 exams, so you have to be committed as there is a lot of work involved, and the exams cost about �75 a time. One important point, it is possible to learn how to pass the exams, without really knowing the material. DONT be tempted to do this as you will quickly forget it, it is much better to get a network at home, 3 PCs will do, and practice, then if you move into this sector you will be confident that you can do the job. Lastly, you might consider taking the A+ and Network+ qualifications first as this will give you a good grounding in DOS and Windows and basic networking.

I'm just starting on the same route and will be including the A+ and Network+ quals to boot so yes I believe it is worthwhile so GFI!!!
